Computer Virus problems

A computer virus, commonly known as a virus, is a general term for when your device becomes infected. A Virus is part of a broader category of malicious software (malware) that, when active, replicates across your device and slowly takes over your applications and device.

There are many forms of malware, and a virus is only the tip of the iceberg. Others are called worms, spyware, and ransomware (the motive is to seek a profit). You can pick up a virus from the internet, email or other infected devices that connect to your WiFi (such as when a friend comes over and needs the internet).

There is even a different category from the baddies when an email is involved, which is called phishing or smishing when it comes from a text message.

Like us, devices can become slow or lethargic at best when we catch a virus. At their worst, they could reveal sensitive or personal information such as our date of birth or online bank details.

Once you are infected, it is important to clean the infected device and scan all the other devices on your network for infections to clean them.

Prevention is best when it comes to protecting from a virus.

Several antivirus applications are on the market, and the cost ranges from free to paid subscriptions.
